How can I find out my finger/ring size?

Click on the link below to view a conversion chart to calculate your finger/ring size. Otherwise, local jewelers have the ability to measure your finger or a currently owned ring to determine the size needed.

Note: If a ring is wider than 5mm it may fit tighter than a thinner ring. We suggest ordering wide rings slightly larger (no more than 1 size).

Instructions for chart:

  1. Cut a small strip of paper to use when measuring finger.
  2. Place paper around finger and mark where paper crosses.
  3. Use a ruler and measure the flattened paper from the end to the mark made when measuring finger.
  4. Look up inches/mm on chart and look across to find corresponding ring size.

Are sterling silver rings sizeable?

Sterling silver rings are not easily sized after production. Some local jewelers may size silver, but any damage is not covered by Jennifer Cary Designs™. Please measure your finger carefully before ordering.

What ranges of sizes are available on your rings?

We strive to provide a wide assortment of each item, so every customer can have her perfect gift. Currently, most rings are offered in whole sizes from 5-10. Some styles allow for a different size range, so please see product detail page for specific availability.

What are the standard sizes for ladies' jewelry?

Most women’s rings are carried in standard size 7. Please see product detail page for specific size availability.

What is the difference between gold and platinum?

There are several differences between white gold and platinum. The first difference is purity. Platinum is 95% pure. It contains gold mixed with an alloy to create different karat weights. Strength is another difference: malleability and tensile strength. Gold without alloys is very soft and, when mixed with other alloys, is still softer or more malleable than platinum. Tensile strength is also important. When polishing platinum, there is no metal removed as it has a high tensile strength. When gold is polished, however, metal can be slightly removed. Gold also has benefits. It is less expensive than platinum, as platinum is one of the rarest metals. Both metals can be scratched, but gold is not as easily affected as platinum.

What is the difference between 10K, 14K, and 18K gold?

Pure 24K gold is not normally used in jewelry, as it can be easily scratched and bent. In order to be used in jewelry, gold is mixed (alloyed) with other metals. This hardens and potentially changes the color of the gold when mixed with zinc, copper, nickel, etc. creating alternate colors such as green, rose, and white gold.

Karat is a measure of the amount of gold. 24 karat is 100% gold. One karat equals 1/24 or .0417.

10K = .416 gold and .584 alloy

14K = .583 gold and .417 alloy

18K = .750 gold and .250 alloy

10K gold is the hardest and least expensive of the three above, as it has the largest amount of alloy. On the other hand, 18K is more precious and more costly but is slightly easier to scratch.

What is white gold?

White gold can be made in two ways. One way is to mix yellow gold with an alloy (nickel) that makes the metal white in color. Sometimes gold is simply rhodium plated to make a white finish. Rhodium plating is common and is widely used. Over time, rhodium can wear off of jewelry and cause a yellowish color to show through. Items can sometimes be re-dipped in rhodium to renew the white finish.

How do I clean sterling silver?

If your item becomes tarnished, make sure you use a cleaner specifically made for silver jewelry that can be found at most grocery stores or anywhere jewelry cleaner is sold. We rhodium plate our sterling silver items to slow the natural tarnishing process, so until your item starts to tarnish, use a soft brush with mild liquid soap and water. Rhodium plating can, over time, wear off, leaving the sterling silver exposed. Sterling silver can also naturally tarnish when exposed to air.

How do I clean my jewelry?

Most jewelry is safely cleaned using a soft brush and mild liquid soap and water. Sonic jewelry machines can be used on most items, but don’t put porous stones like pearls into cleaning machines, as they can cause damage. Read the instructions on cleaning machines (sonic or other) before placing your valuable jewelry inside.

How do I clean pearl jewelry?

Pearls are porous stones that can absorb chemicals. Only use a pearl jewelry cloth or, if severely dirty, use water to clean. Pearls actually improve their luster when worn because of the natural oils in the human skin.

Are your items rhodium plated, and why?

Yes, our sterling silver and white gold items are rhodium plated. (See white gold for more information.) Sterling silver is rhodium plated to protect and slow the natural tarnishing process. Over time, sterling silver can naturally tarnish when exposed to air.

Why are some of your items not available for sale?

Currently, we are increasing our production division to allow for a wider assortment. As production of items become available, we will make those items open for sale as soon as possible. We are sorry for any inconvenience, and we hope to have your favorite Jennifer Cary Designs™ item offered soon. Our goal is to have the entire assortment in stock by Jan ’09.

Can I use BlockCharms™ on any chain?

BlockCharms™ have enhancers that are made to allow for most chains or cords. (See the accessory section on the site for the available assortment.). BlockCharms™ are significantly heavy and should be used with a quality-made chain.

What are the measurements of the BabyBlock® and BlockCharms™?

Most BlockCharms™ are ½ inch square, not including the height of the enhancer. Jennifer has also designed mini-blocks that are approximately 2/3 of the size of the regular BlockCharms™. (See individual product descriptions for specific measurements.)

Order Information

Can I ship to a different address?

For security reasons, only orders under $400 may ship to a different address.

Can I place an order if I live outside the U.S.?

Currently, we only ship to U.S. and Canada. Extra shipping charges may apply if outside the continental U.S.

What are your rates for shipping?

Standard Shipping: 3-5 days (USPS Parcel Post, signature required) $12.00

2-Day Shipping (USPS Priority Mail, signature required) $16.00

Overnight (USPS Express Mail, signature required) $27.00

Not all zip code areas have priority or overnight service available. Please check with USPS for area availability. 

Some items require additional production time, so please check shipping times on the product detail page. Items will be shipped standard, 2-day, or overnight as requested once the item is produced.

Example: Customer orders overnight package; special order item requires two weeks to manufacture; after two weeks, the item will be shipped overnight.

When will I be charged for my order?

Your credit card or debit card will be billed and confirmed at the time of ordering. Once funds are confirmed, your order will be processed and shipped as soon as possible.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Once your order is sent for processing, it cannot be modified or canceled. If you would still like to cancel, you must refuse the package at the time of delivery. If you need the item changed (personalization, ring size, etc.), we will make every attempt to contact manufacturing to modify the order. Otherwise, you must return the item for an exchange.

Can my ring be sized after purchased?

Most gold items can be sized at a local jeweler, but sterling silver rings require a special silversmith to size. If you need to exchange your ring for a different size after purchase, please follow the return instructions within 30 days. Please use our ring size chart to correctly determine the ring size needed before ordering. Any work performed by a local jeweler is not covered by Jennifer Cary Designs™.

How do I view the status of my order?

Please log in to the site and click MY ORDERS. Each order will be displayed with the order status.

What does Pending status of my order mean?

Pending status means that your order has been submitted to Jennifer Cary Designs™. To ensure the accuracy of your order and quality of our products, our staff reviews all orders before sending them to our manufacturer. If there are any questions about an order, you will be contacted.

What does Approved status on my order mean?

Approved status means that your order has been sent into production. You will be notified when your order is shipped.

What does Shipped status on my order mean?

Shipped status means that your order has been shipped from the warehouse.

How do I track the location of my package?

For security purposes, we do not provide tracking numbers. For any additional shipping status questions, please contact us at orders@jennifercarydesigns.com.

How long does it take to receive my order?

Please see each product page for specific shipping details.  All personalized items are custom-made-to-order and can take up to three weeks to ship.  Most items are in stock and can ship within a week; otherwise, we may custom-make your item and ship it as soon as possible.

Returns/Exchange Information

Can I return/exchange my order?

Exchanges: You have two options:

  1. You may return an item for a refund by following the instructions below, and place a new order at your convenience after the item has been credited.
  2. If you want your replacement item more quickly, you may place a new order immediately. Please be aware that this will temporarily create a double bill until we refund the initial order.

Returns: Items may be returned for a refund within 30 days of receipt of package.

Please include your order number, name, address, and contact email.

In order for us to improve customer satisfaction, please let us know why you returned your item.
